ECO-FRIENDLY, DURABLE, AND INNOVATIVE — ECOCOCON STRAW PANELS ARE REVOLUTIONIZING SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION.
In today’s world sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity. Therefore, more and more people are choosing natural and eco-conscious building solutions. Our partners EcoCocon offer straw panels as a modern and innovative approach to sustainable construction. Crafted from 98% renewable materials, they provide exceptional insulation, durability, and acoustic performance. Not only do they create a healthy indoor environment, but they also significantly reduce the carbon footprint of your home.
Here’s why the EcoCocon panels are the perfect choice for your next project.
WHAT ARE STRAW PANELS?
Straw panels are a factory-produced structural block that uses compressed straw as the core insulation component. The straw is tightly packed into panels of a specific thickness, supported by timber frames to create a modular, energy-efficient wall system.
WHY CHOOSE ECOCOCON STRAW PANELS?
SUPERIOR INSULATION & SOUNDPROOFING
With an impressively low heat transfer coefficient, EcoCocon panels deliver outstanding thermal insulation. They help maintain even temperatures, keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer—while also providing excellent soundproofing.
HEALTHY INDOOR ENVIRONMENT
Made from natural materials, these panels regulate humidity levels, ensuring optimal indoor air quality. The breathable, diffusion-open system prevents moisture build-up, mold, and mildew, contributing to a comfortable and healthy living space.
Non-Toxic Materials: Free from harmful chemicals, the panels promote superior indoor air quality, making them a safe and healthy choice for families.
DURABILITY & LONGEVITY
Straw and wood are both materials that are made to last. The oldest wooden building is more than 1,300 years old. Modern straw-bale building techniques date back to the beginning of the last century. The first houses built in Europe (1921) and the US (1925) are still in pristine condition. We offer a 25 years producer guarantee for the insulation layer and 50 years for structural integrity. However, as long as the installation standards are met, the life expectancy of an EcoCocon building can be measured in centuries. Contrary to popular belief, straw and wood buildings resist fire very well. The straw in the EcoCocon panels is compressed at a density of 110kg/m³ (6.9 Ib/ft3), leaving no space for oxygen that would fuel the fire. Straw has a high content of silica, a natural fire retardant. When burning, both materials create a charcoal insulation layer on the surface that protects them from flames. Combined with interior clay plaster, our wall system is rated to withstand two hours of intense fire according to the REI 120 and REIef120 certifications, meeting strict fire safety requirements. In fact, after two hours of over 1000°C (1832°F) on one side, the other side showed an average temperature increase of only 17.7°C (63.9°F)
ECO-FRIENDLY & WASTE-REDUCING
Constructed from renewable materials, EcoCocon panels minimize construction waste. They are biodegradable, further reducing their environmental impact.
The production process prioritizes resource efficiency, and the pre-fabrication of components ensures clean, waste-free installation on-site.
EFFICIENT, FLEXIBLE, & PRECISE CONSTRUCTION
Manufactured under strict quality control in a factory setting, these panels allow for quick and precise assembly on-site. This reduces construction time without compromising on accuracy or quality.
KEY CONSIDERATIONS FOR BUILDING WITH STRAW PANELS
SKILLED LABOR:
Building with EcoCocon panels requires specialized knowledge and experience. Working with qualified professionals ensures the proper implementation of this innovative system.
UPFRONT INVESTMENT:
While the initial cost of EcoCocon panels may be higher than traditional materials, the long-term energy savings and minimal maintenance needs make them a cost-effective solution.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO THE PANELS HANDLE MOISTURE?
The EcoCocon panels are designed with a "breathable" structure that allows water vapor to pass through without trapping moisture. Additional vapor-permeable membranes and protective coatings keep external water out while enabling internal moisture to evaporate. This smart design prevents condensation and mold formation, maintaining a dry and healthy indoor environment.
WHAT ARE THE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS?
Homes built with the EcoCocon system require minimal upkeep thanks to the durability of the materials. Suggested maintenance includes:
Periodic inspections of facades and roofs for potential wear.
Regular inspection and if necessary renewal of facade coatings (e.g., plaster or wood) to ensure protection against the elements.
Regular checks of drainage systems to prevent moisture buildup.
With proper care, your EcoCocon home will remain in excellent condition for decades.
